Glossary

One-line definitions for the terms used throughout Maddict and this documentation.

  • Audience — A set of segments combined with boolean logic; the thing you build, measure, and act on. See Audience logic.
  • Segment — A single attribute of people or places (e.g. “affluent households”). The building block of an audience.
  • Segment group — A bundle of related segments in the catalogue, grouped to make them easy to find.
  • Market — A geographic dataset (e.g. a country or region) that scopes the catalogue.
  • Catalogue — The browsable library of markets, segment groups, and segments.
  • Group (in the builder) — A container for segments in the builder. Segments inside a group are OR’d; separate groups are AND’d.
  • Workbench — The area of the builder where your audience is assembled.
  • Flow view — A visual representation of an audience that draws its AND / OR relationships as connected nodes.
  • AI draft — A starting audience proposed by Maddict from a plain-language description. See AI draft assistant.
  • Reach % — How large an audience is relative to the base population. See Statistics & outcomes.
  • Index — How over- or under-represented a trait is versus the baseline (100 = average).
  • Outcome area — One of four lenses — home, work, dining, malls/retail — describing where an audience is concentrated.
  • Geo point — A mapped location associated with an outcome area, plotted on the map.
  • Tenant — A single agency’s isolated workspace. See Tenant data isolation.
  • Agency — A customer organisation; one tenant.
  • Dashboard user (analyst) — A member who builds and manages audiences.
  • Agency admin — A member who also manages the team and watches plan usage.
  • Platform admin (Maddict staff) — A Maddict operator who provisions and oversees agencies from the back-office.
  • Invitation — The email-based mechanism by which a new member joins; Maddict is invite-only.
  • Tier — An agency’s plan, which resolves to its entitlements.
  • Entitlements — The concrete markets, segment groups, features, and quotas a tier unlocks. See Tiers & entitlements.
  • Seat cap — The maximum number of members an agency may have.
  • Validity — The period through which an agency’s access is valid.
  • Quota — A limit on how much of a metered action (e.g. exports) can be performed.
  • Back-office — The restricted Maddict-staff surface at /admin for provisioning and oversight.
  • Row-level security (RLS) — Database-level rules that confine every read and write to the requester’s own tenant.
  • Audit log — An immutable, append-only record of significant platform actions.
  • Audience data API — The external data source behind the catalogue and statistics, reached only through Maddict’s secured proxy.
